Bread Baking

1breadbakingPreheat your oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, combine the following dry ingredients:

  • 4 cups of whole-wheat flour

  • 4 tsp of double acting baking powder

  • 1 tsp of salt

Mix these dry ingredients in a bowl. Make sure they are thoroughly mixed because it will affect the taste of the bread. In a separate container mix thoroughly the following: (if possible, put in a container with lid and shake)

  • ½ cup of water

  • ½ cup of milk

  • ½ cup of honey

  • ½ cup of vegetable oil

Little by little, add the wet mix to the dry ingredients, mixing them together with your hands. Pour the dough onto a clean counter or bread board, and kneed it into a large ball of dough. With your hands, roll it into a fat cylinder that is 6 to 8 inches long. Cut the cylinder into eight equal parts (–|–|–|–). Each part/ball should make one 6-inch round. Once the round is patted into form, take a knife and cut a cross on top. The dough round should be about ½ inch thick and look like a molasses cookie. Place rounds on an un-greased cookie or pizza sheet ensuring at least an inch between them. They bake for 8-9 minutes. You will know they are finished when they no longer seem doughy.
