Faith Formation

Children’s Sunday School is open to any children–including visitors! Please feel free to join us! Following the Children’s Sermon early on in Sunday worship, the Pastor releases the children to their respective classrooms. Many of our teachers are professional educators and have been teaching children for years.

K3 to K5  The teachers in this room have been working with preschool age children for over 20 years.  This is often a child’s first experience with “school” and we strive to teach the children stories from the Bible in very age appropriate ways and have fun with our new church school friends.

1st Grade-4th Grade  Our school age program is teacher led and hands-on.  The children hear a lesson from the Bible each Sunday and play a game or create a craft that reinforces the lesson.

5th Grade-8th Grade  Our middle-school program focuses on stories from the Bible as well as Christian behaviors and attitudes at home, school, and in the community.  This can be a challenging time for children and we try to guide them with Christian values.

Confirmation is taught by Pastor Dan over the course of the academic year, beginning in late September. Confirmation is open to junior-high age students, but older students are encouraged to participate, as well. The course is designed for one year and involves readings and lessons, interfaith field trips, service projects, a statement of faith assignment, and a Confirmation Sunday in the early summer.

A nursery is available to parents with infants and toddlers, right outside of the chapel in the northwest corner of the church. There are lots of toys for playing, a crib for napping, and rocking chairs for nursing and resting.

Adult Christian Education meets in the lower level of the church in the “Pine Room” starting at 8:30 a.m. and concludes before worship begins. This is a thoughtful and faith-filled gathering. No prior preparation is required to participate in day’s session. Come as you are and contribute to the discussion and learning. Take some time to think and speak about the things that really matter in our communities and in the life of faith.
